COVID-19 Update

Monday, March 23 - 4:30pm:

Dear NNPRT Athletic Participants,

Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus and along with the recent orders from Governor Ralph Northam, the City of Newport News Parks, Recreation & Tourism Athletics Division will be canceling the youth spring soccer season. We wish that we did not have to make the decision but the safety of our participants and citizens are extremely important. The closing of the schools for the remainder of the academic year and the ban on gatherings of more than ten people that was put in place for 30 days unfortunately has reiterated that we all need to take this virus outbreak very seriously. Refunds and credits for the youth spring soccer season will be issued as quickly as possible.

For those who were planning to participate in our Spring Adult Softball League, the start of the season has been delayed and we are working diligently to come up with a solution. We will provide more information when is it is available. At the present time, we are optimistic that our Summer Youth Basketball and Summer Field Hockey Leagues will take place as but will continue to update you as updates become available.

We truly do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but the health and safety of our participants and citizens are important. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Please take this outbreak very seriously and let’s work together to squash the virus so that we are able to return to our normal lives as soon as possible.

Thank you!
